Step 1

There are two methods that you could follow that are based on sponsorship.

  • You can use another method if you are lucky and have a UAE citizen or resident as a spouse. Spousal or Family Reunification Visas are visas where the spouse serves as the sponsor. These visas allow foreigners to work and stay in the UAE.

After you receive your visa, you need an Emirates ID. Once you have completed the process, you can start the process to become a fully licensed real estate agent in Dubai.

Step 2

Finish the Real Estate Broker Certified Training

You must now demonstrate that you are qualified to work as a real estate agent in Dubai. The organisation in charge of regulating the training is the Dubai Real Estate Institute. The potential brokers must receive training and certification from the DREI to function in the regional real estate market.

It’s a four-day course and aims to equip an aspiring real estate broker with the required knowledge and skills to negotiate in the real estate market in Dubai.

The RERA and the DLD have authorized and accredited the course.

Your Emirate ID will be needed to register for the course. Foreigners will also need to provide a copy of their residency permit.

Step 3

Complete the RERA Exam

RERA stands for Real Estate Regulatory Agency. The written exam is the next step to becoming a broker in Dubai. Once you have passed the 4-day training, you will have to take the exam. The exam fee is AED 3,200 for individuals with a bachelor’s degree from a university.

If you have completed the previous DREI Certified Training for Real Estate Brokers Course, the RERA exam shouldn’t be too tricky, which is an easy pass for most candidates.

Step 4

Obtain your Agent’s License

After completing the exam, there is only one more step to becoming a full-fledged qualified broker in Dubai. This next step should be a breeze if you have a clean criminal background.

You must submit your DREI course completion certificate, confirmation of RERA exam completion and a good conduct certificate.

After you’ve submitted your documents, the Economic Department will approve them and issue you a broker’s license. The delivery should take a couple of days.

You need to keep track of the license renewal, as this license is not valid for life. You need to renew it regularly.

You must begin the renewal process one month before your license expires. You’ll have to repeat the RERA and get a score of 85% or higher to pass.

Once you pass the test, the renewal process can simply be completed by submitting a few relevant documents:

  • A passport and residency permit that is valid.

  • The renewal fee is AED 510.
